Postback — Postback URL
When a shopper clicks an offer, the network gives the click an ID and passes it to the advertiser in the link. If the person becomes a customer, the advertiser's server calls the postback URL and passes that ID, the payout amount and the status.
The status can change: first the conversion is under review, then it is confirmed or rejected. In ThanklyClub, the store's share is credited on the postback and becomes final after the partner's review.
Example
For example, a person started a subscription from the click with ID clk_123. The partner's server sends a request like /postback?sub=clk_123&payout=12&status=pending. 20 days later it sends the same request with status=approved.
How to calculate it / how it works
The mechanism has four steps. Step 1: the shopper clicks a gift, and the network gives the click a sub ID and adds it to the link to the partner. Step 2: the partner saves sub together with the sign-up or order. Step 3: the person completes the target action. Step 4: the partner's server calls the postback URL and passes sub, the amount and the status.
For example, a person started a subscription from the click clk_123. The partner's server sends a request like /postback?sub=clk_123&payout=12&status=pending&secret=… and the conversion appears as under review. 20 days later the same request arrives with status=approved, and the conversion becomes confirmed.
Where it shows up in ThanklyClub and common mistakes
In ThanklyClub, the postback URL and the secret are given to you when you connect. If payout is not passed, the offer's rate is used, and status defaults to pending. A repeat postback with the same sub updates the existing conversion instead of creating a new one.
- Not saving sub at sign-up and then being unable to send a postback.
- Sending approved right away, before the review. It is better to change the status after the 14–30 day period.
- Sending the postback from the shopper's browser. The request must come from a server, and the secret must not end up in page code.
- Confusing sub with an order ID or a user ID: sub is the click ID.
