Incentivized traffic — Incentivized traffic

Incentivized traffic is visits and actions for which the user receives a reward: a bonus, a discount, a gift or points.

Some advertisers ban incentivized traffic: they fear that people sign up for the bonus and do not stay as customers. That is why every offer in an affiliate network states whether incentivized traffic is allowed.

A gift with an order in ThanklyClub is an incentivized impression: the shopper is offered a bonus from a partner. So only programs where such traffic is allowed, and direct partners who agreed to this format, make it into the catalog.

Example

For example, a streaming offer pays €10 per subscription and is marked "incentive: no". That offer cannot be shown in the gift block. An offer marked "incentive: yes" with a €8 payout can.

How to calculate it / how it works

A simple check with two questions. First: does the person get a bonus, discount or points for the click or the action? Second: does the offer allow such traffic? If the answer to the first is yes and to the second is no, the offer cannot be shown.

For example, a streaming offer pays €10 per subscription and is marked "incentive: no". It cannot be shown in the gift block. An offer marked "incentive: yes" with a €8 payout can, even though the payout is lower.

Where it shows up in ThanklyClub and common mistakes

The store does not pay the shopper for the click: the shopper decides for themselves whether they want the gift. The network checks permission during offer moderation, so a store does not have to repeat the check.

  • Taking an offer without checking the incentive mark. The advertiser may reject those conversions, and the dispute would have to be sorted out by hand.
  • Promising the shopper a bonus from the store for registering at a partner. That is a different mechanic and has to be agreed with the advertiser separately.
  • Confusing a discount from the partner with a reward from the store: the first is part of the gift, the second is not.
  • Not recording the permission in the offer terms, and then arguing about a payout.

FAQ

Why do some advertisers ban incentivized traffic?

They fear sign-ups for a bonus from people who do not need the product. Such customers leave quickly.

Where can I see whether an offer allows this traffic?

In the offer terms: every offer has a mark, for example incentive: yes or incentive: no.

What does a store have to do to stay within the rules?

Not promise shoppers its own reward for the click. The network checks the rest during offer moderation.
