Gift category

Insurance as a gift with the order

Phone insurance after a phone purchase or pet insurance after buying food are relevant offers. But insurance is a sensitive topic, so the category is enabled manually.

Insurance

What it means for the customer

The shopper gets a discount or a free first month of insurance for travel, gadgets, pets or home.

When it's hidden. It doesn't compete with physical goods. Hide it if you sell extended warranties or device insurance yourself (an electronics store).

Insurance is a financial product with terms the shopper has to read carefully. That is why the category is off by default. Turn it on if the offer matches your product (gadget, pet, home) and you don't sell your own warranty or insurance.

What the shopper sees

When the category is on, a card from an insurer or insurance service appears in the gift block with a line such as "first month free" or "discount on the first policy". The shopper taps it on the thank-you page or in the order confirmation email and lands on the partner's site.

Policy terms, the price quote and sign-up all happen at the partner. The shopper sees the terms before paying and decides alone. Your store doesn't issue the insurance and receives no data about the shopper.

Why the category is enabled manually only

Insurance is a financial product with its own terms, exclusions and deadlines, and the shopper needs to read them carefully. Next to a store receipt such an offer can look like your recommendation, so the category is off by default.

Turn it on when the insurance matches the purchase: gadget cover in an electronics store, pet cover in a pet store, home cover in a home goods store. If you sell extended warranties or device protection yourself, it's better to leave the category off, since the offer would compete with yours.

What partners offer and how it makes money

The partner pays for a new customer, meaning a confirmed, issued policy or a subscription start. The partner's check takes 14–30 days, then 60% of the payout is credited to your store, and withdrawals go out by SEPA from €50.

Target actions and formats:

  • gadget insurance with a free first month
  • pet insurance with a discount on the first year
  • travel insurance with a discount on the first policy
  • home or belongings cover for new customers
  • a purchase protection subscription with a trial period

Questions

Which insurance types fit best?

Ones that match the purchase: gadgets in an electronics store, pets in a pet store, home in a home goods store.

Can I enable only pet insurance?

Enable the category and add the domains of unsuitable partners to the blocklist in the plugin settings.

Do I need a license to show insurance offers?

You don't sell or advise on insurance: you show a link to a partner. A licensed partner issues the product and answers for it. For the rules in your country, check with a lawyer.

How does this fit with my own warranty on goods?

If you sell extended warranties or device insurance, it is better not to enable the category: the partner's offer would compete with yours. The decision stays with you.

Which insurance converts best?

It can't be said in advance. Offers tied to the purchase are the most practical, for example gadget cover after a gadget. Clicks and conversions per offer are visible in the dashboard.
