What a sports and outdoor shopper does after ordering

A yoga mat, dumbbells or a tent are bought at a moment of resolve: “I'm starting next week” or “we're going to the mountains on Saturday.” The order is placed, and for the first few days the customer lives in that plan. They read the thank-you page more closely than usual, looking for whatever else will help them get going.

A sports purchase starts a habit, so gifts that help keep it going get the highest compatibility score: training apps, sports nutrition, meal kits for eating right, mountain weekend hotels. AI hides sportswear and shoes: they overlap with the gear you sell.

Sample math for a sports and outdoor store

Say a sports and outdoor store gets 300 paid orders a month. 30% of buyers pick a gift, which is 90 people. 10% of them complete the partner action (an app subscription or a first meal kit order): 9 people. The partner pays, for example, €9 per customer. That gives 9 × €9 = €81, and your 60% share is €48.60 a month. The numbers are illustrative, not a forecast.

Offers in this niche continue the purchase directly, so the example uses a slightly higher share of buyers who pick a gift.

Seasonality is strong: January and spring for fitness, summer for outdoor. At peak you get more orders, off-peak fewer. The example is an averaged month, so plug in your own figure.

How to set up gifts in a sports and outdoor store

It depends on who your customer is: someone starting to work out, or a hiker.

  • For a sports range, keep fitness, sports nutrition and meal kits on: they match best.
  • For an outdoor range, look at travel and hotels, and switch off the fitness offers.
  • If your catalog has backpacks, gloves or kits, AI will hide “Sportswear and gear.” Add specific sports chains to the blocklist.
  • Don't enable sensitive categories like supplements until you're sure they fit. Sports nutrition is a separate standard category and doesn't need enabling.
  • After a month, compare category stats and keep the ones with steady clicks.

Sports and outdoor: questions

Does ThanklyClub work for a bike shop?

Yes. AI recognizes bikes and accessories in your catalog and suggests gifts like training apps, bike insurance (if you enable it) and trips.

I sell both sports and camping gear. What will show?

AI scores your whole catalog. For a mixed range, both fitness and travel usually score high. You can see each category's score in the dashboard and switch off what you don't want.

Why is sportswear hidden if I don't sell it?

If your catalog has gloves, backpacks or hats, AI treats gear as overlapping. If you have no such items, you can enable the category manually.

Isn't it odd to offer a hotel to someone who bought a yoga mat?

The link is indirect, so AI gives hotels a middle score. Retreats and weekends in nature fit yoga, and if you'd rather not, switch the category off.

My average order is €30–50. Is it worth it?

Income depends on the number of paid orders and on what the customer does at the partner, not on your order value. A store with small orders placed often earns no less than one with big, rare ones.

Will someone who bought a tent get a fitness app gift?

Probably not. From your catalog AI will see that it's outdoor and raise travel and tickets. A fitness app will score lower.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The plugin is free and advertisers pay. Your store gets 60% of the partner payout for every qualifying customer action: a sign-up, subscription or purchase.

Will customers go to my competitors?

No. The AI analysis hides categories that overlap with your catalog: a shoe store will never show a shoe discount. You can also blocklist any domain.

What data do partners get?

No personal data. Your customer's name, email, address and phone number are never shared with ThanklyClub or with advertisers. Matching uses order product categories, order value range, country and language.
